This was someone's wedding cake. I AM SERIOUS! They said that it was a Texas-Family tradition (for their family) to have an Armadillo Cake like this in addition to the main cake. When I saw that cake, I stared at it for what must have been 20 minutes...in total dis-belief. I seriously thought that I was dreaming. In fact, I still don't believe it!
When they started cutting slices for the guests, the raspberry filling oozed out like blood so the cake actually looked more like road-kill. You should thank me for not posting a picture of that! What do you think? Would you have this cake at YOUR reception?
I created this blog to share with you some of my fun experiences from the many Weddings and Special Events I do every year. If you only have time to read a little bit, you can always click on the favorites link to the right to read my favorite postings. Thanks for stopping by! |

That is SO DISGUSTING!! I would NEVER have a cake like that...EVER!
ReplyDeleteLOL they had a Bleeding Armadillo Groom's Cake in Steal Magnolias. One of my favorite lines from the whole movie was Tom Skerritt's line when Shirley MacLaine gave him the tail and rear end as his slice. That was the first time I'd ever heard of red velvet cake. Then it took me another 19 years before I finally tried a red velvet cupcake just last year. Now my favorite red velvet is at Satrura Cakes. Man I'm even going to Campbell today. Might have to go pick up a slice now that I'm thinking about it. *Drool*
ReplyDeleteI'd do it for a wedding but only out of affection for the movie.
That's funny. I wonder if they stole that idea from the movie. Okay, now I am in the mood for something sweet! Wait...I think there is still one piece of my birthday cake in the fridge! I have to go!!
ReplyDeleteGreat! I get here to comment and thanks to Stacie I want Red Velvet cake too! Argh!
ReplyDeleteThis cake gives them a great story to "tail" forever! : )
