Wedding Vendors Giving Back

What a SUPER event! I have been wanting to organize a volunteer event for professionals in the wedding industry for a while. Well, it finally happened! Yesterday, 25 of us gathered at the Second Harvest Food Bank in San Jose to help sort food that would be distributed to people in Silicon Valley who really need it. It was a lot of fun and a very worthwhile cause. It was great to see how enthusiastic everyone was about giving back to the community. The photo below is of me with some of my fellow members of NACE. (National Association of Catering Executives) From left to right: Robbie Schlosser of the Magnolia Jazz Band, Amy Frugoli from Twitterpated Weddings, Photographer Claudia Akers, L.T Beaton from Palo Alto Hills Golf and Country Club, (and of course me in the back towering above!) The event was such a great success that I will be starting a new volunteer group solely made up of Wedding Industry Vendors who will volunteer once a month. I am so excited! I will have a new website and Facebook page for this group very soon. Here is another photo of me being silly with my buddy Jessie Garcia from PlayitLoud Productionz. Jessie is an awesome DJ and so kind to volunteer for this event.

  1. Hi Rich,
Congratulations! It was a wonderful 2 hours for a worthy cause! Thanks again for setting it up. We'll likely have twice that number volunteering next month, and if yesterday's success is any indication, Silicon Valley NACE will enjoy an outstanding 2010, with you coordinating our Programs.

  2. Hi Robbie,

It was my pleasure setting it up. Thanks so much for joining us and giving back. Looking forward to more great events in 2010! See you again soon!

  3. Hey Rich,

What a great thing for you all to do. Have you heard of an organization called One Brick? They seem to be a really cool group that matches volunteers with deserving organizations.

  4. Hi Paul!

Thanks so much for the message. Yes, I've heard of One Brick! Awesome organization. I have volunteered with them several times over the past few years. Here is the website for anyone who wants to check them out. http://www.onebrick.org/

One Brick is a great way to volunteer and they have events every week. Thanks for stopping by Paul. Take care.

  5. Hi Rich,

This looks like a fun event, everyone helping out and having fun, too (great pics). I wish I could have gone. I signed up with your FB Volunteering group, and look forward to the next events.

  7. Rich this was a great event! Thanks again for organizing it and making it easy for the rest of us to participate.

  8. Hi Flirty! It was my pleasure. Thank YOU so much for volunteering. I had a feeling you would be there since you are always giving back to the community. You are a GEM! Thanks again.
